Learned a new tax law goes into effect in Texas Jan 2012. If you are in the AG business and you want to be tax exempt on certain items you will need to apply for a Ag use tax number. If you come in and don't have that number you will be charged sales tax. Also saddles used for Ropings, Rodeos, and Show saddles, that are not also used as a working saddle in Ag use is no longer sale tax exempt.

Here is a very interesting video on Yakima Canutt's Saddle.
Yakima was a very famous stuntman who was the only stuntman to win an Oscar.

Just got in two saddles made by Wilford back in the 70s. He traded them for two cars. They want me to restore them. Some of the conchos are missing along with some hardware.
One is a show saddle with full tool floral with a dye black background. Fully buckstitched with a silver rope cantel, front and horn. It also has full size monkey nose tapadors, The main problem will be replacing the conchos and the diamond shape spots. Never seen these before. They are silver color with a texas star sandblasted in the center. I may have to replace them all with a real silver set and not this cheap metal that these are made of. Ether way I'm going to have a time working on these.
